Mardis Gras

Pop Brixton, 7Suns & DJ Lil’ Koko present London’s biggest Mardi Gras party

Fourth annual ‘Mardi Gras Brixton’- day and night festival

Prime that tail-feather for shaking as we bring you blazing street beats and the fire and funk of New Orleans.

A full-on immersive New Orleans experience set in old sea containers-turned mini iconic French Quarter. We kick-off with daytime kids craft activities ramping up to an evening of music, live art, New Orleans film, photography and more.

Our daytime Speakeasy stage conjures up old-time New Orleans barrel-house piano blues and jazz from the legendary Diz Watson plus Dom Pipkin- The Soul of New Orleans in the UK on keys, and wonderful vibes from the Tamas Teszary Quartet once again getting the good times rolling. Complete with crafted cocktails and hosted by London’s premier female driven immersive experience The Pomba Girls.

One time New Orleans resident DJ Lil’ Koko (Ronnie Scott’s, Nightjar) is London’s only specialist New Orleans vinyl DJ. She takes over the main stage spinning tasty cuts of 50’s RnB, low-down funk and brass with a few detours into the sweaty bayous of Louisiana. She’s joined by swing dance ensemble, The Mudflappers featuring swing dance lessons for all and live dance performance.

Co-hosts 7Suns have arranged a non-stop stellar line-up of musical acts on the Pop Box stage, and in the evening they'll be bringing an Afro-Latin Jazz Rock world fusion vision where the powers of Carnival & Mardi Gras collide.
This year's headliners The Big Smoke Family bring their infectious Voodoo Funk! A unique mix of punchy horns, heavy street beats, chants, samples and scratching to make you move to the groove 'till the wee wee hours.

Be in that number as the brass takes to the street for the afternoon parade and get ready to make a joyful noise.

Come hungry, leave soulful! Our stalls are packed full of delicious Louisiana inspired street food and drink for your delectation until midnight.

Full line up and schedule to be announced very soon.

Dress masquerade themed (masks, beads, feathers, glitter) and be prepared to groove, shake that thing and get drenched in the spirit of Louisiana right in the heart of Brixton
