Marketing Manager at Pop Brixton

Pop Brixton is a groundbreaking project that has transformed a disused car park in Brixton into a totally unique public space built with recycled shipping containers and a lot of love. We opened our doors in May 2015 and the site is now home to a community of 55 independent, local businesses including restaurants, street food traders, retailers, creative startups, social enterprises, a radio station and even a local barbershop. As well as being a hub for local enterprise, we host a regular events programme that includes live music, theatre, cinema, supperclubs and much more.
Pop Brixton is the first project created by Make Shift, a team who are now launching other similar projects in locations around London.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
We are looking for an entrepreneurial and creative Marketing Manager to take the lead on the marketing and communications for Pop Brixton. We want to find a talented, flexible person who isn’t afraid to get their hands dirty and is driven by the opportunity to inspire positive social change.
This will be a wide-ranging role that will provide opportunities to work with an exciting community of entrepreneurs. The successful candidate will come up with creative strategies to spread the word about all the exciting things that go on at Pop Brixton, including showcasing all our members and our totally unique street food, restaurant, bar and retail offering; promoting live events and entertainment; and effectively communicating the social purpose of the project.
Key responsibilities will include:
Taking the lead on all Pop Brixton marketing activity, managing the marketing calendar, planning and scheduling all content and campaigns, creating content, managing social media profiles and working closely with Make Shift marketing team on strategy and execution.
Actively managing Pop Brixton’s social media and digital profiles, including, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Youtube channel.
Managing content creation, including photography, videography and written content for the blog, newsletter, print publications and social media.
Managing the Pop Brixton website, ensuring information is up to date, refreshing imagery and copy and writing regular blog articles.
Preparing regular reports on marketing effectiveness, and managing analytics for the website and social media.
Devising and reviewing the Pop Brixton marketing strategy on an ongoing basis, with support from Make Shit Marketing Director.
Managing agency relationships, including PR/Communications agency and content providers.
4+ years experience working in marketing at a creative agency, start-up or in-house at a relevant consumer brand.
Strong digital skills with a good understanding of social media strategy and experience managing multiple social media profiles
Experience preparing and implementing creative marketing plans, reporting on effectiveness, and managing budgets.
A strong visual eye for design and imagery, with professional or amateur design, photography or videography experience a bonus.
Fluent English (other languages a bonus) with excellent writing skills, some copywriting experience is preferred.
Salary: £28-32k Depending on experience
