Corporate Sales Events Manager

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is more than just a regular sales job. Pop Brixton is a unique space, designed and curated to be exciting and welcoming for all our guests. The Commercial Events Manager role is a new one within our team, and is tasked with driving the commercial success of our business by hiring out our available spaces for private parties, corporate events, meetings, and any other event you think is a good fit!

Broadly, you’ll be responsible for:

Working with the Pop Events Manager to create processes and policies that help the smooth running and success of events on site.

Surveying our spaces, to maximise existing opportunities and create new ones for hosting private events on site.

Developing a commercial plan and rate card based on similar venues and pricing, to be agreed with the Project Director.

Working with the Marketing Department to create the assets you require (brochures, etc.) to market and sell the spaces effectively.

Working with the Marketing Department to come up with lead generation strategies that will support you in hitting commercial targets.

Building and maintaining strong relationships with partners and clients to ensure repeat business wherever possible.

Designing and delivering events for clients (using third parties where appropriate) that bring Pop Brixton a profit and exceed clients’ expectations.

Reporting on the success of events against budget to the Project Director.

ABOUT YOU

We’re not looking for a regular salesperson who could (and would) sell anything. You’ll be someone who is commercially savvy and understands how to bring a deal to completion, but who isn’t interested in chasing the quick buck at the expense of a long-term big deal. You could come from any number of backgrounds, but you’ve probably spent most of your career so far in a sales-focussed role, and if you’ve worked at a multi-purpose venue then that’s even better.

This probably means that you:

Are highly creative - you can think round corners and perform dizzying feats of mental acrobatics when it comes to solving complex challenges with simple solutions.

Love to learn - we’re a close-knit team, and often collaborate on projects outside of our expertise. We need someone who can thrive on the positive but can also take feedback constructively and, vitally, use what they’ve learned to get better.

Like being accountable - in our small team, we’re each directly responsible for our own work and we need someone who is able to take responsibility immediately and effectively from day one.

Just ‘get’ sales - you probably had a lemonade stand when you were younger, and you might have thought about entering ‘The Apprentice’. You know how to sell stuff, and your clients love you because you’re not the pushy sort of salesperson that we all instinctively dislike.

What this is likely to mean in real life, is:

You have several years’ venue experience leading corporate and private event hire.

You have experience producing events within multi-use events venues from beginning to end across a range of event types.

You are pretty good with tech and can handle setting up a projector, a basic sound system, etc.

You know how to maximise both revenue and profit.

You have developed a thorough understanding of annual pre-planning and event strategy.

You can manage teams of duty managers, security, sound and lighting technicians.
